REASONS WHY SO MANY CHILDREN DISOBEY

Reasons why so many children disobey is that they frequently hear the word "DON'T" -the brain steps over the word don't -as it is not a verb or a noun that can be pictured. The brain goes to the rest of the message, then it might return to the word don't by negating the entire message, so dear, dear parents please make sure, next time you avoid using this word and you tell your little one, what exactly you want them to do.All the BEST, get going.

  1. Very true! Maybe the parents should tell themselves, " DON'T imagine a red elephant with blue ears and a yellow tail..... " They might get the point :)

Where a negative command is unavoidable state it positively with the consequence. Eg.
    - Don't touch it!
    - If you touch it your finger will burn and hurt a lot. So take care

    Thanku Sree for the tip!

  3. Your right Sree,'Don't' is a negative word and will only lead to negativity.I liked the eg quoted by IW.Another reason for disobedience is giving in to all your child's demands without being firm.

  4. children disobey
    1. they are commanded not lovingly told
    2. By virtue of being a parent they are to be obeyed
    3. parent do not listen to objection raised by the child

    isn't this somewhat cotradicting shuvradey?
only telling "don't" has problems? doing "don't" no problem? little confusing.

  8. The difference between need and want has to be made clear. And here you can decide if you have to be firm or not

  9. A simpler explanation is that the mind needs to being to its conscious awareness what not to think and so in the process thinks about it
and therefor becomes more entrenched in it.
Try not to think about about a blue elephant!!
